Swing with safety sensors – Applying Internet of Things to playground safety
Keeping playgrounds in top condition is a constant challenge for operators and local authorities. Damage to equipment can put children’s safety at risk. This is why Ludo, a company that designs and constructs outdoor playground equipment, together with the software producer Sneebel, developed an intelligent nest swing that notifies playground operators of any safety issues.
Embedded safety Sneebel sensors, explicitly designed for the swing, provide a constant stream of sensory data. The technology provides regular updates about the wear and tear of the equipment as well as real-time alerts if there is damage to any component. The company believes that its pioneering and proactive use of the Internet of Things (IoT) will soon become an industry standard for safer play environments.
“This clever innovation offers support for playground staff and suppliers and provides an extra layer of safety,” said the Jury.
